APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT:
Apply MONOPACK SFF Solventbome Version in thin and even coats using
a 6-1Omm roller.
For large areas use a 460mm wide roller (eg Oldfields Cat. No.602-18)
on a yoke frame (eg Oldfields Cat No.662 ) and a 40 litre Nylex plastic
storage crate as the roller bucket.
Do not use weighted bar or lambswool type applicators, or pour and
spread techniques. THINNING
& CLEAN-UP:
Thinning is not normally required for MONOPACK SFF Solventborne
Version, however the product may be thinned up to 5% with mineral
turpentine for first coats if desired.
COVERAGE:
Coverage depends on thickness of application, and the porosity of
the timber.
The approximate coverage on sealed timber is 12 square metres per
litre per coat.
APPLICATION
GUIDELINES:
1. After filling, carry out final sanding with # 220 grit abrasive
medium. Vacuum and sweep with lint free cloths lightly moistened
with white spirit for dust free surface.
2. For ease of application and optimum drying rates, apply MONOP
ACK SFF at temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius.
3 Apply MONOP ACK SFF with a 6-1 Omm nap roller, all in accordance
with all label directions, and this Data Sheet. Drying time is 18-24
hours. In cold weather allow 2 days between coats.
4. Sand the entire floor with # 220 grit sand screen disc, and follow
with vacuum and sweep with lint free cloths lightly moistened with
white spirit.
5. Apply a second coat of MONOPACK SFF with a 6-lOmm roller, all
in accordance with all label directions and this Data Sheet. Drying
time 18-24 hours. In cold weather allow 2 days between coats.
6. When previous coat is dry, sand with a worn # 220 grit sand screen
disc, vacuum and sweep as for previous coat.
7. Apply a third coat of MONOPACK SFF with a 6-lOmm roller, all
in accordance with all label instructions and this Data Sheet.
8. Drying time before light foot traffic is 4 days. Full hardness
takes 7 days.

CLEANING
THE SURFACE:
Determine what cleaning products have been used by janitors, particularly
metal link acrylic polishes and spray and buff products. Such barrier
film contaminants must be completely removed.
Remove visible contaminants such as chewing gum, masking tape, food
spills etc. by scraping.
Wet scrub the floor using an auto scrubbing machine fitted a vacuum
recovery system, using a black nylon stripping pad, and charged
with MONOP ACK RECOA TING STRIPPER as per label instructions, particularly
the recommended dilution, usually 1:3 with hot water.
Follow the wet scrub with a fresh water rinse to remove residual
stripper. Allow floor to dry.
If any doubts remain as to the suitability of the surface for recoating,
carry out adhesion test patch tests.
SANDING:
After cleaning as described above, the entire floor surface requires
thorough sanding, using a rotary machine fitted with a vacuum recovery
system. Typically 220 grit screen backs will be suitable but ifhigh
intensity down lighting is present, then a worn or finer grade of
abrasive should be used to prevent incidence of scratch marks witnessing
through the finished job. The resulting surface needs to have an
even matt, dust free appearance.
ADHESION
TESTING:
A cross hatch adhesion test is recommended if any doubts remain
as to the suitability of the surface for recoating.
After carrying out cleaning and sanding as described above, select
three or four areas on the floor, each 10cm X 10cm in size. Apply
a coat of MONO PACK SFF to the test areas, and allow to dry for
24 hours. Then with a sharp knife, score six parallel lines Imm
apart on the test areas.
At 90 degrees to these scored lines, score six more at Imm apart
to form a cross hatch pattern. Using 3M Magic Tape, lay a strip
across the cross hatch and press down and rub firmly. Pull the tape
firmly at 90 degrees to the floor surface. No transference of the
coating to the tape indicates good adhesion.
APPLICATION:
Apply one or more coats of MONOPACK SFF with a 6-10mm nap roller,
all in accordance with all label instructions, including 18-24 hours
between coats, and light 220 grit sanding if required. The recommended
drying time before light foot traffic is 4 days.Full hardness takes
7 days.
